I got a load of new plants for the fish tank today and it's looking might purty if I may say so myself. It is turning into a money pit but I've just got a few more things to get - I'm gonna make me a homemade CO2 reactor! I know it sounds like something from Malcolm in the Middle but it's basically just putting yeast and sugar solution in a coke bottle and then bubbling the gas into the tank. Apparently it does wonders for the plants and keeps them looking very lush and healthy. It's turning into quite a science project.

I think sickly fish is a bit better today but I'm not sure he's out of the woods yet - or if he's going to go the other way :(

have a look at this clever animation made using LEDs and long-exposure photographs - it's surprisingly effective and cute too

in other news, one of my fish isn't feeling well. I hope I can save him. He's currently enjoying some fresh water in the tupperware container emergency ward. He was a bit of a runt anyway, all the others are full of energy. Maybe he's just a sickly child (a bit like me:P)

finally I got fishies! These are chinese white cloud minnows which are supposed to be one of the easiest fish to look after. They don't need warm water and can survive in just about anything - though I intend to look after them well of course. They're used to living in fast-flowing streams and they seem to really enjoy racing up the stream of water coming out of the filter which I thought might be too strong but clearly isn't. I'd like to get some shrimp to go in the bottom of the tank but it's not easy to find the varieties that like cold water, but I'll keep looking.

I would probably never use a nintendo machine, but if I had one, I'd want one like this... Check out the very informative video too

(incidentally I hate XP service pack 3. It's turned a fast computer into a very slow one. I may just revert back)
